Tour Descriptions

All tours are custom designed to fit with your wishes and skill on mountain bikes, hiking and/or horseback riding. Mix and match according to your schedule and the terrain in the area you want to visit. Tours include transportation from and to your local hotel and whatever equipment you need for your activity. Your informed and bilingual guide will stay with you and provide instruction on the use and safety procedures relevant for your adventure.

The bilingual guides of Tilaran Adventures know the Lake Arenal area like the back of their hands. Lake Arenal extends north and west from the base of Arenal Volcano between La Fortuna in Alajuela and Tilaran in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Between La Fortuna and Tilaran there are countless attractions, including the world class wind surfing, motor boating, sail boating, and fresh water fishing on Lake Arenal and the rivers that feed it. North of Lake Arenal, the road is a frequent challenge for mountain bikes and runs through the town of Nuevo Arenal. North of Nuevo Arenal are the ancient Venado caves for your spelunking exploration. To the south of Lake Arenal are the famous cloud forest towns of Monteverde and Santa Elena. The Lake Arenal and Tilaran areas are just waiting for the vacationer to discover. You find paradise when you get to Lake Arenal.

Tilaran Adventures, with our bilingual drivers and guides, is your shuttle from the San Jose airport and the Liberia airport to the Lake Arenal area and beyond. While on your visit, hike in the Tenorio National Park, visit the hot springs and hot mud pits at the base of Tenorio Volcano and Arenal Volcano, spelunk in the Venado caves, trek the rain forest and cloud forest of the Monteverde National Park, or horse back ride along the country roads, cattle country around the Chiripa Dude Ranch, and forest trails. Start your off road tour with an on road mountain bike then switch to hiking, kayaking, or horse back riding. Tilaran Adventures guided day tours or 2-day overnight camping tours are based on your wishes and need for adventure.

Independent tours are arranged with equipment rental of mountain bikes, horses, ATV’s, kayaks, and shuttle service to get you to your destination. Tilaran Adventures’ microbus will carry you and/or your equipment to the place where you begin your tour and pick you up when you are happily exhausted. We are a full service tour company that will tailor your Costa Rica adventure to your needs.
